Silver Creek Park
The Silver Creek Community Center is located in southwest
Bakersfield at the corner of Harris Road and Reliance Drive.
This 14 acre complex features a pavilion, swimming pool, multi-purpose
room, stage, lighted tennis courts, disc golf course, horseshoe
pits, par exercise course, two play areas, multi-use sports
field, and two large picnic areas.
Some of these areas are available for rental when such use does not conflict with activities programmed by the Recreation and Parks Department. If an area is not rented or programmed, it may be utilized on a first-come, first-served basis.
Silver Creek Community Center offers many different activities and programs for the whole family. From karate, tennis, gymnastics, and yoga, to summer day camps, tee-ball, and after school programs, there is something for everyone. The multi-purpose room is programmed with classes on a daily basis through the week and available on weekends for rental. This room is great for that perfect birthday party, baby shower, or reunion. The room holds 100 people and can be divided with a curtain wall if you only need space for 50 people and wish to reserve only one side.
The two large picnic areas each accommodate 125 people and are perfect for company picnics, family reunions and parties. Each has a serving shelter complete with sink and barbecue grills. Area 1 is located south of the building beside a large play area designed for elementary age children. Area 2 is located north of the building beside a play area designed for pre-school age and toddlers.
The pavilion area is very popular and
used by basketball players year-round. It is available for
rental for sports use,
or tables and chairs can be set-up to accommodate parties,
large company picnics and family reunions. There is an elevated
stage area located west of the pavilion that is used for performances
such as our Musicfest and Movies in the Park. This stage area
is included in the rental of the pavilion and commonly used
by non-profit organizations.
Other sports features that are available include the tennis
courts, horseshoe pits, disc golf course, par exercise course,
and multi-use sports fields. These are all available on a
first-come, first-served basis, unless programmed by the
Recreation and Parks Department, and are not reservable.
Silver Creek Park also features a 25 yard pool with a small wading pool. This
pool is programmed in the summer and offers swimming lessons and recreational
swim. This pool is available for rental in the summer on weekend evenings only.
