Animal Control Staff

Tammy Davis, Supervisor

Tammy DavisAnimal Control Supervisor Tammy Davis has been with the City of Bakersfield since July, 2004. Officer Davis came to the department from Kern County Animal Control, where she worked at the shelter and was a dispatcher for several years. Officer Davis was a shelter supervisor for over 5 years at the Bakersfield SPCA and worked as an Animal Control Officer for the organization for 2 years.

Officer Davis began her career in the animal field in 1991, after graduating from an Animal Health Technician program. She began working in the Veterinary field and worked in a hospital for several years.

Officer Davis has been an animal lover throughout her life and has many animal-related hobbies. She has many pets, including horses, a mule, a donkey, cats and goats. She has vast experience in animal health, behavior and handling, of animals both large and small.

Officer Davis enjoys working at the low-cost rabies clinics, conducting training programs and public education. She loves to promote awareness and responsible pet ownership.

Richard Jones, Animal Control Officer

Richard JonesAnimal Control Officer Richard Jones, has been with the Bakersfield Police Department since July 01, 2003. Before that he worked as an Animal Control Officer for the Bakersfield SPCA, for three years. While at the SPCA, Officer Jones was promoted to Field Training Officer. He has since attended and graduated from the Humane Academy in Marin County. Officer Jones has given numerous bite awareness and animal cruelty recognition classes.

He enjoys working with animals and educating the public on animal cruelty. He also enjoys working with a wide range of animals from wild to domestic. Officer Jones does not own any animals. His family life does not allow him enough time to give an animal the attention it deserves. He encourages responsible pet ownership and would ask those interested in adopting to go to their local animal shelter.
