General Instructions for the Bakersfield Police Department Alarm

Permit Application:
An alarm permit is required for every burglary or robbery alarm in the city of Bakersfield. This includes alarms that are not monitored by an alarm company. Please mail the completed and signed alarm permit registration form to the address listed at the bottom of the registration form. You may wish to keep a copy for your records.

The following information is provided to assist you with completing the registration form.

Alarmed Location: Fill in all of the information related to the actual location of the alarm. If this is a residential alarm, list all of the information that pertains to the resident or responsible party. If this is a business alarm, list the identifying information for the business location (e.g. business name, etc.). If the alarmed location is a suite, building or apartment with a specific number, please provide that information.

Responsible Party/Mailing Address: If you receive mail at an address that is different than the address of the alarmed location (e.g. P.O. Box, Corporate address, other, etc.) please provide your preferred mailing address so that correspondence regarding the alarm can be received by those responsible for the alarm. If possible, please provide an email address that we can use to contact you with questions or future correspondence.
If you are doing business under one name but correspondence and other business matters are addressed under a parent company or other name, please list both.

Emergency Contact: This information is very important. If your property has been broken into, who would you want the Police Department to contact? There must be 2 persons listed, at least one of which can respond to the alarm location within 20 minutes of being contacted by the Police Department. Consider who might be available when you are out of town or otherwise occupied. Please provide their name and phone numbers and their position or relationship (friend, relative, business manager, employee, etc.) to you.  

Monitored By: Please provide the name and phone number of the alarm company who installed and/or who monitors your alarm system. If they are different, list and identify both. If your alarm is an audible alarm and is not monitored please indicate that by listing ‘N/A - Audible’.

Use/Purpose of Alarm System: Is your alarm protecting your home against a break-in (Burglary) or do you use your alarm to alert police to a personal threat or robbery? List the type of alarm system (e.g. silent robbery, audible burglary, etc).

Once you have completed the registration form, sign and date it. Then mail it to the address listed along the bottom of the page. You will be contacted with information regarding the registration of the alarm via the information that was listed on the registration form.
