City Holiday Closures and Impacts

City Offices

  • All City offices will be closed Monday December 26th and January 2nd in observation of the Christmas and New Year holidays, respectively.
  • These closures include City Hall North, City Hall South, Community Development, Visit Bakersfield and offices at the Corporation Yard.

Police and Fire Services

  • No changes in overall services
  • Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over DUI enforcement saturation patrols will occur throughout the holiday season
  • For emergencies: Dial 9-1-1
  • Non-emergency police line: (661) 327-7111

Refuse Services

  • No changes to the normal days for curbside tan, green and blue can pick-up.
  • The City’s Green Waste facility, located at 2601 S Mt. Vernon Ave, will be closed on Sunday December 25th and January 1st and will reopen the follow Mondays, December 26th and January 2nd at 7 a.m.

Recreation and Parks

  • All City parks are open normal hours, 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
  • All park reservations for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day need to be completed no later than 12 p.m. the Thursday preceding the holiday. For more information, please contact (661) 326-3866.
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. and Silver Creek Community Centers will be closed Monday December 26th and January 2nd in observation of the Christmas and New Year holidays, respectively. Please note these facilities are not open on weekends.

Visit Bakersfield

  • The Visitor’s Center, located at 515 Truxtun Ave, will be closed Monday December 26th and January 2nd in observation of the Christmas and New Year holidays, respectively.
