METROPOLITAN BAKERSFIELD GENERAL PLAN UPDATE

Welcome to the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan Update Website!
This website will serve as your one-stop portal for information about the City of Bakersfield’s General Plan Update.  The site provides up-to-date information, including a description of the project, a tentative project schedule, how to get involved, background reports and studies completed so far and contact information. NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Staff is securing additional funding to develop a Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) for the Metropolitan Bakersfield Update.  Local Sustainable Planning will be the focus for the CCAP.  CCAP is Bakersfield’s mechanism for county-wide and region-wide efforts for addressing SB 365, provide community-wide sustainability, and implementing AB 32 GHG emission reduction targets.  The CCAP will include energy efficiency and conservation strategies for long-term land use planning.

A second Joint City/County Planning Commission Workshop was held on Monday, March 8, 2010, at the Kern County Board of Supervisors' chambers. The focus of the workshop was the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan Update and issues related to the proposed Urban Opportunities Map and Infill Incentive Strategies in the Metropolitan Bakersfield area. All staff slide presentations are in the Library.

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce held a workshop on Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Chamber of Commerce meeting room.  The focus of discussion was the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan Update.  The slide presentation for the workshop is in the Library.

The Kern County Planning Commissioners and the City of Bakersfield Planning Commissioners held a Special Joint Workshop on Monday, April 20, 2009, at the Kern County Board of Supervisors’ chambers.  The staff slide presentation, maps, Public Outreach Issues Report, and Existing Conditions, Constraints and Opportunities Reports are all in the Library.
