Aquatics
Water Spray Parks - More than the backyard sprinkler these parks are full blown water-themed parks. Each park varies with games and gadgets including the "Bucket Trio" that will have you guessing which one is going to spill water, along with "Spray Cannons" that shoots water in a 30 foot radius. McMurtrey Aquatic Center
The multi-use facility is located at 1325 Q street. The facility features an 8,551 square foot recreation pool and a 50-meter competition pool. Other amenities include a double water slide, a water volley ball area, and specially designed interactive wet play equipment.

City Pools
During the hot days of summer, the City pools are open for public use. The pools offer fun for everyone. The following pools are:
Jefferson Pool,Beale & Barnard Street; MLK Pool, East California & South Owens Street; Silver Creek Pool, Harris & Reliance.

Bakersfield City Pool Rules:

  • Participants must wear swim suits. Shirts, shorts, denim, or cut-offs are not permitted.
  • Only U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets are permitted.
  • Non-swimmers under the age of 18 and children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Children ages 5 and under require one-on-one adult supervision.
  • Swim diapers are required for children under the age of 3 or for older children not completely toilet trained.
  • No outside food or drinks allowed. (Food and drinks allowed at Silver Creek and Jefferson Pools on the grass areas ONLY.)
