Director's Message

Are the short days and long nights getting you down? You are not alone; many people suffer from lack of sunlight, combined with post-holiday blues. A great way to feel better is to take a walk in a park; brisk walking increases blood flow and elevates moods. There are plenty of places to walk, including The Park at River Walk, Kern River Parkway, City in the Hills, State Farm Sports Village and Silver Creek Park, just to name a few.

In addition, tennis courts, basketball courts, and disc golf courses are open year round for outdoor activity. Kids can enjoy the playgrounds - there are over 100 to choose from! Dogs can also socialize off leash at designated dog parks throughout the city.

If you miss the annual Polar Bear Plunge, we still offer swimming every day at McMurtrey Aquatic Center. Swim through the mist early in the morning, or start your day with a brisk walk and spring will be here before you know it!
