Director's Message

Woman holding a tennis racketFinally, the temperature has cooled down and winter activities are here! Bring the whole family to the Polar Bear Plunge on January 1st and start the new year with a splash.

Check out the new 3 Wins Fitness program at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center on Tuesday and Thursday. Also, the after school program provides free food to the children on a daily basis, sponsored by Kern County Superintendent of Schools. Several programs are ongoing at Silver Creek and Saunders, as well as the McMurtrey Aquatic Center.

All City Parks are open year-round and are a great place to reserve for birthdays, family reunions and special events. Be sure to try the Kern River Parkway multi-purpose trail on your bike or on foot. The monthly Full Moon Bike Rides sponsored by Bike Bakersfield are very popular family events.  Enjoy!
