The Bakersfield Police Department is proud to announce the return of its annual Bakersfield Police K-9 Trials. All active-duty city, county, and federal agency K-9 teams are invited to attend this grand event.

Our K-9 Trial will take place in Bakersfield, California on June 23 & 24, 2017. The trial will take place indoors at the Rabobank Arena where friends and family of each K-9 team can enjoy the air conditioned atmosphere while cheering on their favorite handlers. The event will also be open to the general public and several vendors will be on hand offering the latest in K-9 related equipment.
The host hotel for K-9 teams is the Marriott Hotel, 801 Truxtun Avenue at $90.00 per night. The hotel is located directly next door to the Bakersfield Convention Center making transportation to and from the trial easier for handlers. You can register at: marriott.com/bflmc
On Friday, June 23, 2017, the narcotics detection, explosives detection and article search portions of the trial will take place. This phase of the trial will not be open to the public in order to maintain fairness during scoring. On Saturday, June 24, 2017, the patrol phase of the trial will begin. During this stage, teams will be judged in courses of obedience, agility, building search, area search, and protection work. The public will be allowed to view these events throughout the day.
After Friday’s events, K-9 teams and family will enjoy a BBQ while awards are given out for narcotic/explosives detection competing teams. Following Saturday’s proceedings, the Bakersfield Police Department K-9 Unit will be hosting an awards banquet at the Bakersfield Convention Center. During the banquet, there will also be an exciting raffle with many surprise gifts for anyone in attendance.
