The BFD provides a wide array of non-emergency services to the community related to fire prevention, fire safety education, and disaster preparedness.

The men and women of the Bakersfield Fire Department make hundreds of public appearances at various community events, educational facilities and non-profit fundraisers providing displays and demonstrations of Fire Engines, Ladder Trucks, and other specialized firefighting equipment.

The Department values community alliances and public participation as part of its emergency service delivery process. Through collaborative efforts with the Salvation Army and Red Cross, partnerships with various community groups, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies, and the timely dissemination of public information, the BFD remains a connected community partner.
