Groundbreaking for Maya Cinemas, California Avenue and "P" Street

Our primary functions are to,
►attract and retain a diverse accumulation of businesses;
►provide housing programs and other
services benefiting low- and moderate-income people; and
►promote Bakersfield as a desirable location for businesses and visitors

We administer the Community Development Block Grant, HOME Investment Partnership Program, and Emergency Shelter Grant.  We manage the Bakersfield Convention and Visitors Bureau and also provide staff assistance to the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency and Historic Preservation Commission.

Community Development
Community Development works to rehabilitate housing stock, assist nonprofit organizations that provide housing and other community services, and respond to fair housing concerns in the City of Bakersfield.  Learn more…
