About Engineering Subdivisions Our Goal is to ensure that proposed new developments are in compliance with generally accepted engineering standards, City ordinances and other statutory regulations. Our intention is to provide for and promote adequate, coordinated and modern development with the facilities required to serve the citizens of the City of Bakersfield and to implement the goals and policies of the Metropolitan Bakersfield General Plan.

Reviewing improvement plans for development and verifying that the plans conform to City standards and specifications.
Reviewing parcel maps and subdivision maps.
Preparing improvement agreements and Final Tract Maps for Council approval.
Preparing other types of Public Works agreements for Council approval.
Issuing Street Construction Permits and Encroachment Permits.
Filing Notices of Completion and Notices of Acceptance for completed improvements with the County Recorder's Office.
Processing Minor Land Divisions - lot line adjustments, parcel map waivers and lot mergers.
Processing Certificates of Compliance.
Preparing staff reports for items requiring City Council action.
