Handicapped Access Appeals Board

The Handicapped Access Appeals Board is composed of five (5) members, nominated and appointed by the full Council.

LEGAL AUTHORITY:  Bakersfield Municipal Code Chapter 15.54 . California Health and Safety Code Sections 19955 through 19959

TERM: No terms specified.  Members serve at the pleasure of Council.

QUALIFICATIONS: Members must be residents of the City throughout their terms.  Two members shall be physically handicapped persons, two shall be persons experienced in construction, and one member shall be a public member.

DUTIES: The board of appeals for handicapped access shall hear written appeals brought by any person regarding action taken by the Building Department of the City in enforcement of the requirements of Part 5.5 of Division 13 of the California Health and Safety Code.

MEETINGS: Meetings are held at 1715 Chester Avenue, Development Services Building, Bakersfield.  Contact the Building Division for specific meeting dates.
