Westside Parkway Phase 2 Groundbreaking

The Thomas Roads Improvement Program (TRIP) hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Westside Parkway Phase 2 Project on October 23, 2008. A program of noteworthy speakers about the project and the partnership of agencies that comprise the Thomas Roads Improvement Program were in attendance. Bakersfield City Manager Alan Tandy welcomed the crowd before introducing other speakers that included; former Congressman Bill Thomas, Mayor Harvey L. Hall, Council Member Zack Scrivner, and Ahron Hakimi from Caltrans.

The Westside Parkway is a high capacity transportation facility that will ultimately extend from Truxtun Avenue near State Route 99 to Heath Road at Stockdale Hwy. The facility will reduce congestion and improve connectivity in west Bakersfield.
