Ceremony Held to Dedicate the National Mottos, Historical Documents, School Display and Liberty Garden

A ceremony was held at Bakersfield City Hall on July 30, 2002 to commemorate the placement of the national mottos in the City Council Chambers, a display of historic documents, a patriotic art piece by a local high school, and an outdoor garden area with a patriotic theme.

The National Mottos
The two mottos "In God We Trust" and "E Pluribus Unum" have been inscribed on the main wall of the City Council Chambers, accompanying the City of Bakersfield seal. 

Hall of Historic Documents
In addition to the placement of the national mottos, the Hall of Historic Documents was created.  The display is comprised of seventeen documents, ranging from the Magna Carta to Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech "I Have a Dream". The display is located in City Hall South.
