POLICE TRAINEE RECRUITMENT #00791recruitment
Now accepting applications for Police Trainee.  This position is an entry-level, non-sworn position in the Police Department.  Incumbents in this position are assigned to the Basic Peace Officer Academy and must satisfactorily pass all of the requirements that lead to the possession of the Basic Peace Officer Standards and Training Certificate for appointment as a probationary Police Officer or be terminated from the Trainee position.

For those candidates whose applications are accepted, you will be invited to participate in the written examination on September 26th.  If you pass the written examination you will be invited to participate in the physical agility examination on October 10th.  The physical agility exam is designed to measure the job-related physical characteristics of strength, agility and stamina required of a Police Officer.  Please download the physical agility obstacle course information sheet for this recruitment. 

Only for those candidates invited to participate in the physical agility exam, you will be required to download and print the following:

You will be required to complete the PIBQ and PHS and bring these completed documents with you at your scheduled physical agility exam on October 10th.

The Temporary Job listings will take you to our document repository where we post seasonal and temporary work. These positions cannot be applied for online. You may pick up an application at the Human Resources Division at 1600 Truxtun Ave (First Floor), City Hall North, Bakersfield, CA for these positions.

Because Fire promotional positions require additional documents, certificates, etc., a listing of those types of positions will be posted online in addition to under the "What’s New" area.
